Sandoval Economic Alliance named Cable ONE as its 2015 Business of the Year during last week’s quarterly annual luncheon.
The luncheon at Club Rio Rancho on Tuesday also featured a review of the alliance’s quarterly presentation to the Sandoval County Commission earlier this month.
Jami Grindatto, CEO and president of SEA, said the decision to award Cable ONE was made due to the cable company’s clear decision to expand in the county, as opposed to elsewhere.
“There were several criteria that we looked at, but one of them was leadership and Cable ONE and (Cable ONE general manager) Jane Shanley, specifically, stood up and said, ‘Hey, instead of hiring people in Arizona, we can grow our office here,’” he said.
Cable ONE, located in Enchanted Hills, has 38 employees and provides customer service to its city Internet and cable customers.
Shanley said she was pleased with the recognition of the alliance, saying Cable ONE’s membership with SEA has led to admiration for the alliance. She said Cable ONE chose to stick with Sandoval County due to the county’s surroundings and the state’s job training incentive program.
“The fact we were to get some funding from the JTIP funds to help offset the training costs, and really the environment here, we were really able to pitch the retention of employees,” she said.
